Today, Alexander Aronov, Chairman of the Presidium of Aronov & Partners, took part in a breakfast meeting with EMBA students at Skolkovo as a guest speaker. The topic of his presentation was “How not to be deceived. From a phone call to a meeting with a friend.”
During the lively discussion, we talked about the current challenges and risks of criminal liability and shared our experiences from some of our landmark cases.
Key topics of discussion:
🔹 The audience was particularly interested in the risks associated with seemingly routine transactions, such as transferring funds via phone number or card to pay for goods or services. We examined why, since recently, such a payment to an unknown person can be grounds for criminal prosecution if the recipient is acting in the interests of a terrorist community. This provision of the law now fully applies to cryptocurrency transactions on P2P platforms.
🔹 We also discussed how business clubs and business schools, as centers of trust and networking, cannot be held responsible for the quality of all their members. Unfortunately, some participants join them with the sole purpose of finding victims for pyramid schemes or fictitious projects. It is important to remain vigilant even in the most reliable environment.
We would like to thank Skolkovo and Yuri Shilov personally for the invitation and the opportunity to share our expertise. Such dialogues are extremely important for the formation of a legal culture in the business community.
Always one step ahead in solving the most complex legal issues
