Ellina Bykova

Ellina is a lawyer, head of the criminal law practice. There are two heads of criminal law practice in the Moscow Bar Association “Aronov & Partners”, since this industry occupies the leading position in the activity of the bar association. Ellina specializes in protection of interests of principals in criminal cases of economic, tax and corruption nature.

She has been actively involved in practice of law since 2017.

In addition to legal profession, her experience also includes service in the judicial system, in various subdivisions of the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation from 2006 to 2017.

During this period, Ellina participated in:

• investigation of grave and especially grave crimes, including malfeasance and corruption;
• maintenance of public prosecution in particularly complex, multi-episode criminal cases with increased public attention involving corruption, economic, tax related crimes, whether offences against property or person;
• supervision over procedural activities of the departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Federal Drug Control Service, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

The priority areas of the legal practice include the following:

• representation and protection of interests of clients in the course of criminal proceedings, in particular in cases of economic, tax and corruption related crimes;
• criminal-legal protection of principals, including submission of civil claims in criminal proceedings;
• representation of interests of injured persons;
• legal support and protection of managers and owners of legal entities during tax and / or pre-investigation inspections, preliminary investigation and court proceedings; 
• participation in performance of criminal intelligence and surveillance operations for the purpose of taking immediate preventive measures to protect the interests of clients;
• organization, coordination and performance of internal corporate investigations of alleged offenses.
   

Key projects with participation of Elina, to name a few:

• Termination of criminal prosecution with acknowledgement of eligibility to rehabilitation under part 4 of article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, according to part 3 of article 285 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, under part 4 of article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
• Requalification of the actions of the principal in the Supreme Court of the region of the Russian Federation (appeal court) from part 6 of article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation for part 5 of article 33 part 3 of article 30 part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (amendment of the extent of punishment with entitlement to parole, successful enforcement).
• Termination of criminal prosecution with acknowledgement of eligibility to rehabilitation and exclusion of the principal from the wanted list accused of serious crime against property, associated with dismissal of the investigator of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation who committed violations of the law.
• Criminal prosecution of the federal judge for commitment of negligent crime against a minor with guilty verdict.
• Termination of the case related to administrative offense unlawfully initiated by the customs authorities of the Russian Federation, with return of the seized assets.
• Return to a foreign national of funds in the amount of more than 10 million rubles, unlawfully seized by the customs authorities of the Russian Federation.
• Enforcement of punishment for commitment of a serious crime in the area of business activity with imposition of a penalty in the amount exceeding 25 million rubles.
• Enforcement of punishment for a serious group malfeasance - embezzlement of budgetary funds not related to service of sentence”
   

She on a regular basis provides professional expertise to the Russian mass media - business press, radio and television. She is also a frequent speaker at large-scale legal and industry events.
